After listening to The Books : The Lemon of Pink I fell in love. It was something I had never heard before, ambient and random noises. Though, I listened to another one of their cds, Music for a French Elevator and was a little thrown off, it was definitely The Books, but it was a little too much for me to handle. Pitchfork says that every song by The Books is a movie unto itself, it's true. Each song is able to tell a story, sometimes using words or just fragments of vocal sounds. They have three official full length releases, Food for Thought, The Lemon of Pink (for some reason I always call this the Lemon Touch of Pink, I don't know why), and Lost and Safe. If you want to ease yourself into The Books I suggest you listen to the latter, Lost and Safe, it is the more conventional recording, however you must listen to the other two once you have gotten used to their style.
